In 2016 Lawrence was asked by a number of his clients to consider exploring FINRA Series 65 credentials for investment advising. These credentials would allow Lawrence to become a registered (with State of Virginia) investment advisor. He passed the test and set up a Company called Halieus Investment Advisors LLC. Lawrence remembers at age 16 buying his first stocks which he would later sell to pay for his freshman and sophomore textbooks in college. His college law and investment class professor, Donald E. Showalter, encouraged him in market understanding and endeavors as well.
Lawrence has combined investment expertise with accounting and tax knowledge. Not very many of us exist. A Certified Public Accountant is really the only person qualified and credentialed to create a financial statement, advise on it and conduct the service of valuation objectively and truthfully.
Lawrence loves working with clients who are also traders in the market. He has taken classes on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, reads and watches Michael Saylor presentations regularly (among others as well). Lawrence has developed various trading strategies over the years and shares with his clients that ask. He has excelled at combing the late Van Tharp Super Trader methodology with his own swing trade patterns.
In the Horizon Accountants tax and accounting practice Lawrence is not giving investment advice but merely answering questions, defining terms and meaning of how markets function, assisting in structuring transactions to be profitable and encouraging clients to be more creative.
